The Mendenhall Museum is a private collection located in California’s beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. The museum has one of the west coasts largest petroliana collections including gasoline pumps, globes, and porcelain gas, oil, & road signs. There are also race cars, racing memorabilia, license plates, gas & oil items, and other miscellaneous antiques.
This collection was started over fifty years ago by the late Jack Mendenhall and is carried on today by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Vickie.
We will schedule private tours for individuals and clubs. We host special events, such as weddings, birthday parties, class reunions, family reunions, anniversary’s, etc. We also have car and motorcycle club gatherings. Please call (805) 689-2402 to schedule your tour. There is a $15 donation per person for tours.

Founded by Major General William Lyon, Lyon Air Museum is located on the west side of John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California. Lyon Air Museum is collocated with Martin Aviation, an award-winning jet, turbo-prop, and piston-powered aircraft repair facility established in 1923 by famed aviation pioneer Eddie Martin.
The Lyon Air Museum exhibits are comprised of authentic aircraft, rare vehicles, and related memorabilia, with emphasis on the defining event of the 20th century – World War II. Through captivating and thought-provoking exhibits based on historical scholarship, visitors gain a better understanding of the important role the United States plays in shaping world history.

Richard A. Stephens, former Academy of Art University President, has always had a penchant for cars, a sentiment that has been passed down to his daughter and current President of the Academy, Dr. Elisa Stephens. Desiring to offer automotive design at the Academy, Mr. Stephens wanted to give students a design perspective that they would not be able to receive from anywhere else. With access to a museum of rare and classic vehicles, students can study exquisite design and apply that sense of craftsmanship to their own artistic pursuits.
The Academy of Art University Automobile Museum preserves and pays homage to these classic fixtures of international automotive innovation and also provides inspiration and a sense of history to students who attend the Academy of Art University. Special guests, student groups, and the general public are now able to observe, admire, and study this rare collection.

The J.A. Cooley Museum is San Diego’s Most Unique Collection of Antiques and Automobiles. The museum is 10,000 sqft feet of the private collection of Jim and Carmen Cooley. Located in the University Heights community of San Diego, 1 mile north of Balboa Park this is the largest private collection of the Industrial Revolution and the history of San Diego.
The museum features over two dozen automobiles from 1886 to 1933. Each car highlights advances in technology at the very beginning of car manufacturing. There are over 25 different categories of collections displayed including lamps, bells, irons, purses, trains, clocks, spittoons, posters, cameras, cast iron toys, typewriters, household appliances, music machines, telegraphs, telephones, and phonographs.
