The San Antonio Fire Museum

The San Antonio Fire Museum

The San Antonio Fire Museum is, as many visitors say, one of San Antonio’s hidden gems. What began as a dream of five firefighters assigned together at old #19’s station in 1997, has become one of the most notable Fire Museums in the country. Today, the Museum is located at San Antonio’s original Central Fire Headquarters at 801 E. Houston Street next door to the world-famous Alamo.

The San Antonio Fire Museum is owned and operated by the San Antonio Fire Museum Society, a 501(c)(3) public charity.  All of its management and operations staff are volunteers dedicating more than 1,200 hours each month to preserving San Antonio’s rich firefighting history.

At the San Antonio Fie Museum, visitors will see antique fire trucks and fire-fighting equipment, artifacts dating back to the mid-1800s, and beautifully archived documents and photos. A 1953 International fire truck, built by the Simms Fire Equipment Company, is available for kids to climb on and dress up in authentic replicas of firefighters’ turnout gear!

Rambler Ranch

Rambler Ranch

The Rambler Ranch is the culmination of Terry Gale’s ideas, style, and tastes from a broad and diverse range of sources, in particular a life-long passion for the products of Nash, Rambler, American Motors Corporation (AMC), and its various subsidiaries such as Kelvinator Appliance; hence a uniquely diverse collection.

The collection started with his father’s 1954 Nash Ambassador, which was saved from the scrapyard in 1977. The collection quickly grew to around 30 vehicles and kept growing until Terry moved to the Rambler Ranch.

Located approximately 45 minutes south of Denver, the display collection currently consists of over 200 vehicles and an impressive array of complementary displays, picnic facilities, a vintage Sinclair Filling Station replica, gift shop, and much more.

The Snooks’ love for cars began when they restored a 1929 Model A Ford in 1963 that Jeff then drove when he turned 16; Jeff and his father Bill have been collecting cars and automotive memorabilia ever since. Their memorabilia collection includes model cars, toy cars, die-cast banks, signs, advertising items, oil cans, period auto accessories, coin-operated machines and games, pedal cars, a kiddie ride, and much more.
