MY Garage Museum

MY Garage Museum

The MY Garage Museum & Retail Store is a popular attraction at Mid America Motorworks’ facilities in Effingham. The center houses thousands of pieces of automotive collectibles and memorabilia of Mike Yager’s.

The facility also showcases an actual 1910 gas station that was moved and restored on-site. However, the most significant pieces in the collection are the bevy of prototypes, concepts, and racing vehicles.

The museum has recently refocused emphasis from rare, low-mileage originals to showcasing automobiles that car lovers would not be able to see up close anywhere else. Between 15 and 20 cars are on display, with the specific display changing throughout the year. The museum’s current display includes the Last C4 Corvette, with the last small block engine produced in the Flint, Michigan plant, a 3000-mile original 1954 model, and CERV I, an open-wheel engineering prototype created by legendary Corvette designer Zora Arkus-Duntov, now restored to its original condition.

Hastings Museum

Founded in 1927, Hastings Museum is the largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver. From horse-drawn buggies to horseless carriages, Hastings Museum’s antique vehicles provide an intriguing look at the vehicles that have moved us for more than a century! From horse-drawn buggies to horseless carriages, Hastings Museum’s antique vehicles provide an intriguing look at the vehicles that have moved us for more than a century! The exhibit includes a homemade wooden bicycle, the first hearse in Adams County (built in the 1880s), and a 1912 Rauch and Lang automobile with an 80-volt electric motor. You won’t want to miss William Jennings Bryan’s 1900 Brougham. With more than 500 speeches given in 1896 alone, Bryan invented what is known as a stump tour! He served in Congress and ran for President more than once. Traveling frequently required a sound vehicle, and this exquisite carriage fit the bill. Vehicles are just one aspect of this museum. You’ll also learn about natural history, prehistoric Nebraska, Naval Ammunition, and more. 1330 N Burlington Ave Hastings, NE 68901 P: 402-461-2399 Email: rmatticks@hastingsmuseum.org
