The National Museum of Transportation ‘houses one of the largest and best collections of transportation vehicles in the world’ according to the Smithsonian.
The Museum’s rail and transit collections have grown to encompass more than 190 major exhibits. There are over 200 automotive items on display, including a 1901 automobile built by the St. Louis Motor Carriage Co.
The auto building currently displays over 30 cars. Ten of these cars are dedicated to each decade of rt. 66. In addition, we have an operational Chrysler Turbine car and a one-of-a-kind DiDia 150, which is known as the Bobby Darin Dream Car. Both of these vehicles have been cosmetically restored by world-renowned Manns Restoration in nearby Festus, MO, and have a spectacular finish and attention to detail. There are also aircraft and boats on display.
