The Hale Auto Museum is a true hidden gem of Benzie County.
What began as a private passion project for the late Larry Hale—a retired General Motors professional—has grown into a meticulously curated collection of over 40 vintage vehicles. Now maintained by his son, Jeff Hale, the museum offers a deeply personal look at the evolution of vehicle design, engineering, and cultural impact right here in Frankfort.
Housed in a three-building complex, the collection is a journey through time, featuring everything from the “Brass Era” of horseless carriages to the high-horsepower muscle cars of the 1960s and 70s. Whether you are a lifelong gearhead or simply a fan of local history, the museum provides a unique, family-friendly atmosphere where every car tells a story of innovation and the allure of the open road.
