3 Dog Garage

3 Dog Garage

3 Dog Garage is a unique, not-for-profit, historic-vehicle museum located in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, and occupies a restored, three-story, early 20th-century brick manufacturing building with an attached one-story wing built approximately 50 years ago. A second building, within easy walking distance of the first, is a recently and extensively renovated mid-20th century brick manufacturing facility, which opened its doors as a museum in 2022. Display areas, a working restoration shop, a library and other spaces, all combined, total approximately 75,000 square feet.

The several collections in the museum contain vehicles as chosen by long-time collector Ross Myers, who bought his first vintage automobile, a 1936 Ford in need of total restoration, when he was eight years old. The car is now a national-award winning show car and resides at 3 Dog Garage with more than 100 other vehicles.

The museum takes its name from three Myers family dogs, all of whom enjoyed going for rides in old cars, especially old open cars. Their names were George, Gracie and Dauber, all Bouviers, now in Dog Heaven.

Ross and his wife Beth have designed the museum spaces so that the visitor experience provides the opportunity for close personal inspection and enjoyment of the vehicles without ropes or encumbrances to easy movement. There is no charge to visit 3 Dog Garage, but admission can be made by pre-arrangement with the museum scheduling department for groups such as car clubs or community service organizations.

Swigart Museum

Swigart Museum is the oldest Antique Automobile Museum in the country and the only Museum. The automobile collection was started in 1920, just 25 years after the first patented combustion engine automobile. It was started as a collection that was made available for public viewing during business hours at Swigart Associates. It was later registered as a separate automobile museum, which is still thriving today.

The Swigart Museum collection contains automobiles and carriages dating back to 1896. You can see between 30 to 35 automobiles on display each year at the museum. Because the collection is so vast, each year while the museum is closed over the winter, they change the displays to allow everyone to see more of the collections. They also have a featured display each year of one of their special automobiles in the center of the museum.

During your visit, you will experience more than just cars. The Swigart Museum features the excitement of early automobile racing and old cars that are depicted in prints, paintings, and photographs from renowned automobile artists such as Ernest Montaut and Peter Helck.

Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum

Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum

Jerry’s Classic Cars & Collectibles museum is built out of the love for cars, growing up in the 1960s, playing rock-n-roll music and drag racing. Working in a gas station at that time was the thing to do for any young man who had an interest in cars and making a few dollars. Jerry Enders, the owner of the museum, used those memories as the inspiration behind the design and atmosphere of the museum.

Jerry and his wife Janet transformed the former Morgan Studebaker Dealership (circa 1900) into a museum featuring over 20,000 items and a large variety of classic cars. The museum took years to clean out, fix up, and paint in preparation for its opening in 1994. Their hard work and constant devotion make the museum the attraction it is today.

As Jerry walks through the museum, he expresses his outlook: “The mural of the 1950’s Atlantic Gas Station (on the ground level) is how I remember the one I worked in. The 1950s Band Stand and Drive-In Theater on the upper level will remind anyone of the days of rock-n-roll and outside movies. Along with a variety of classic cars, the snack bar and soda fountain will also take you back in time.”

Since its common for the museum to attract men of all ages, Jerry and Janet made sure there are must-see items for women. Walking through the millinery, library, kitchen, and appliance store brings countless memories back to life. Do you remember the first song you and your first love danced to? Check out the jukebox on the lower level to enjoy a blast from the past. While listening, engage in a few games on the 1960s pinball machine!
