Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum

Southern, Texas

The Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum consists of two award-winning museums, the Depot Museum and the Farmstead Museum – both for one admission fee.

Among a treasure-trove of unique items in the museums are:
Artifacts from native Caddo Indians
A working telegraph station
An 1894 telephone switchboard and antique telephones
A printing press from the late 1880s
A 1909 Studebaker Surrey
A 1925 Model T Ford
A 1927 American LaFrance fire truck
A fully furnished farmhouse and farm equipment from the 1900s

Among these items, you will also see many other collections from their history and rich East Texas culture. The biggest crowd-pleaser, attracting people from all over the world, is the replica of the Ezekiel Airship. The original Airship was flown here a year before the Wright Brothers Kittyhawk flight. And, from the Depot Museum, you can see the location where the flight took place.
