Motorcar Museum of Japan

Asia, Japan

The Japan Automobile Museum, located in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is one of the largest automobile museums in Japan in terms of the number of exhibits.

Cars that were active in Japan in the 20th century were collected from all over the country, and the 800 cars owned were exhibited in their original condition, with about 500 cars in use at all times. From cars in the early days of the automobile industry to post-war cars, the exhibits are categorized by various concepts such as manufacturers and genres.

In particular, it is characterized by exhibiting a large number of old commercial vehicles made in Japan, and many “precious vehicles that can only be seen at the Japan Automobile Museum” are also on display.

The museum is operated by Ishiguro Sangyo Co., Ltd., headquartered in Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture. It was opened as the first automobile museum in Japan.
During the period of high economic growth in the Showa era, the trend of using utility vehicles such as trucks to be used up was disapproved, and the Japan Automobile Museum began with a focus on collecting practical vehicles in particular and opening them to the public as a private collection.
