Maryland

Maryland is a Mid-Atlantic state that’s defined by its abundant waterways and coastlines on the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Its largest city, Baltimore, has a long history as a major seaport. Fort McHenry, birthplace of the U.S. national anthem, sits at the mouth of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, home to the National Aquarium and Maryland Science Center.

AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY

The Maryland automobile was built by the Sinclair-Scott Company of Baltimore, Maryland, between 1907 and 1910. Sinclair-Scott was a company making food canning machinery and in the early 1900s started to make car parts. One of their customers failed to pay and to compensate Sinclair-Scott took over their production, moved the factory to Baltimore, and marketed the car as the Maryland.
