La Porte County Historical Society – Kesling Auto Collection

The La Porte County Historical Society Museum has on display the Kesling Automobile Collection, which consists of more than 30 vintage automobiles collected by Dr. Peter C. Kesling and his wife Charlene. They range in age from a 1903 Winton to a 1982 DeLorean, the car made famous in the movie “Back to the Future.” The 1903 Winton was driven from California to New York City by Dr. and Mrs. Kesling in 2003, retracing the path of the first coast-to-coast auto journey by Dr. Horatio Jackson, one hundred years earlier.

The collection includes an important grouping of Indiana-built automobiles. A 1929 Auburn Cabin Speedster with T-tops recreates an original destroyed in a disastrous fire at the 1929 Los Angeles Auto Show. A classic Auburn Boattail Speedster of 1935 joins two Cords, a 1930 L-29 and a 1937 Model 812 “coffin-nose” model on display. Rounding out the Indiana triumvirate is a 1929 Duesenberg Model J.

Another highlight of the Kesling Automobile Collection is the 1948 Tucker “Torpedo,” number 12 of 50 produced by the innovative Tucker Corporation in Chicago. This car appeared in the 1988 movie “Tucker: The Man And His Dream” starring Jeff Bridges.

Brass Era enthusiasts will be pleased with the display of early automobiles. Besides the 1903 Winton, there is a 1910 Velie, a 1912 Baker Electric Coupe, and a 1914 Mitchell, among others. The Kesling Automobile Collection is on view with the La Porte County Historical Society’s museum displays. It is therefore included as part of the admission price and on view during Museum hours.

Greyhound Bus Museum

Greyhound Bus Museum was established in September of 1989 by Gene Nicolelli, a local resident who discovered a plaque honoring Hibbing as the birthplace of the bus industry in an abandoned Greyhound terminal.

Initially called the Greyhound Bus Origin Center and located in the Hibbing Municipal Building, the museum has grown to include a collection of historical buses and memorabilia related to the Greyhound Lines.

The museum houses a collection of artifacts and vehicles that chronicle the history of the Greyhound Lines bus company. Visitors can explore eighteen historical buses, including the very first Hupmobile used for passenger service in 1914. A diorama brings to life the bus building process in 1916, while hundreds of artifacts like uniforms, tickets, and photographs showcase the evolution of Greyhound travel. The museum also tells the story of the company’s contribution to the World War II efforts.

Hill Country Motorheads Motorcycle Museum

Hill Country Motorheads Motorcycle Museum

Hill Country Motorheads Motorcycle Museum is located in Burnet, Texas – the “Bluebonnet Capital of Texas” in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and Highland Lakes area, just north of Austin.

Hill Country Motorheads joins just a handful of motorcycle museums operating in Texas and displays over 7000 square feet of vintage Street Bikes, Motocrossers, Trials, Flat Trackers, Drag Racers, Choppers, other genres of motorcycles, and memorabilia mostly from the 1960s – 1980s. For the Harley diehards, we do have some cool old HD’s to enjoy!

Hill Country Motorheads is not your typical antique motorcycle museum. With over 200 motorcycles in the collection, the museum regularly showcases more than 70 bikes of many brands from around the world. Some pre-60’s bikes are on display and we welcome consignments if they are suitable to the museum theme. While you’re here, relax in the Man Cave, play some pool, watch the big screen TV and enjoy all the memorabilia on the walls and vintage bikes scattered throughout the facility. There is plenty of paved parking for all sizes of vehicles, trailers and bikes. The museum is pet friendly but all pets must be on leash while on the museum property.

Hill Country Motorheads is also a great “destination ride and drive” and is located in close proximity to Luckenbach, Llano, Austin, Fredericksburg, San Antonio and the famous and challenging “Twisted Sisters” highways.

Owners Pat & Janell Hanlon invite you to come spend some time at the museum to take a walk through time and experience the “history of the best days of motorcycling” .
