Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome all begins in the Pioneer Building with the crude biplane hang gliders that inspired the Wright Brothers. Marvel at their historic “Flyers” and follow the decade of innovation with Bleriot, Curtiss, and others. These men and their machines were “Magnificent.”

Names like Fokker and Von Richthofen, SPAD and Rickenbacker, echo through the WWI Building. See how aircraft matured under the pressures of aerial combat. Aviation became an extension of knights in shining armor and the pilots the last of the single combat warriors.

Barnstormers spread flying across the country, Lucky Lindy flew the Atlantic, and little airplanes for private flyers became part of the roaring 20s and 30s. In the Golden Age Building, you’ll find the WACOs, Aeroncas, Fairchilds, Taylors, and other great names of the era.

It all comes together in the History of Flight Building with our comprehensive exhibit of the aircraft, vehicles, engines, and memorabilia that make up our static display and compose a tribute to the glory of man’s conquest of the air.

Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia

Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia

The Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia welcomes you to enjoy an experience that you have never experienced before.

This museum is like no other museum you have ever visited. This is a much different experience than most of the other very formal museums; no ropes, poles, or glass cases holding you back. Everything is hands-on and interactive at The Himes Museum. The stuff some museums consider junk or trash, is considered gold at Marty’s museum. Because you see everything has a meaning, and he can tell you the history of each and everything located on the footprint of the museum property.

Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame Classic Car Museum

Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame Classic Car Museum

The Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame Classic Car Museum building was originally intended to house Donnelly’s collection of classic cars, but Andy Fusco and Gary Spaid convinced him to include a Hall of Fame for the region’s dirt Modified drivers, with historic stock cars on display. Jack Speno was named curator of the Museum.

Fusco, Spaid, Gary Rowe, and Gary Chadwick drew up a charter, outlining driver eligibility for induction. These four individuals, plus Tom Skibinski, comprised the original selection committee.

The inaugural induction ceremonies were held on April 12, 1992, with 12 drivers and one pioneer driver being selected. A set of hero cards and posters were sold, honoring that first class. The ceremonies were followed by a Hall of Fame race at Weedsport Speedway.
