Clifford’s Mini Auto Museum

Central, Ohio

In 1982, William Clifford bought a Mobil gas station that had gone out of business next to his Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home in Cuyahoga Falls. He planned to tear down the working station for parking, until his accountant suggested using it for a tax break. He started using it to store his vintage cars and then added other automobile related collections. From then on, he turned the old station into a mini-museum, where now visitors are admitted free to admire some of his treasures, including a sleek, black 1940 Oldsmobile — just like the one he learned to drive on. Scouring flea markets from Ohio to Florida, Bill and his wife, Dottie, gathered a lot of service station memorabilia, plus a couple of beautifully restored Schwinn bicycles. His personal collection also includes other automobiles, vintage gas pumps, bicycles, and a wide variety of other memorabilia. Bill Clifford passed away in May of 2006 and Dottie Clifford in October of 2008. His family keeps Clifford’s Mini Auto Museum going in their Memory.
