The Motor Museum of Western Australia
The Motor Museum of Western Australia opened its doors to the public on December 21st 1994 and was officially opened by the Hon, Richard Lewis M.L.A.
The Gippsland Vehicle Collection provides Gippsland with an outstanding rotating display of interesting vehicles, cars, motorbikes, machinery, historic vehicles, carriages, trucks and auto memorabilia.
The motor museum in “The Maffra Shed” is located on the Sale Road in Maffra. The massive Shed is in an old vegetable de-hydrating factory built during WW2 and was initially leased by us from Murray Goulburn. In 2018 we were able to purchase the building which was a great milestone and testament to all the hard work which had gone in by our volunteers over the previous years.
The open-trussed building of around 2200 Square Metres is well worthy of a visit. Features such as Audio-Visual facilities, BBQ’s and meeting areas are provided for the use of community groups and car-clubs visiting the museum as part of their weekend leisure events.
Our constantly changing range of vehicles ensures a fresh and exciting display for visitors several times a year. The items on display reflect motoring and transport from horse drawn carriages up to modern racers and hot rods.
Housed in a specially built showroom is a collection of around 3,500 models – one man’s lifetime collection. This exhibition never ceases to amaze visitors as it includes a diverse range of models ranging from British Busses, Cranes, Fire engines, Racing Cars, Vintage Cars, Motorbikes and even a selection devoted to Elvis Presley

From the day the first Holden 48-215(FX) emerged from the production line, Holden arose to become the colossus of the Australian Motor Car Industry.
Take a walk down memory lane and through the history of a company that put our nation on wheels. Our visitors can enjoy the sheer nostalgia as they re-live the days when Holden played a central role in their childhood, dating or early married years. It has helped us work through decades of the harshest conditions, the Holden as an Aussie Icon, rates right up there with the Kangaroo, Ayers Rock, and Vegemite.
Echuca is fortunate to have one of the nation’s largest collections of Holdens, putting this private Museum amongst the largest single brand car museums in Australia. See around 50 vehicles that showcase nearly 70 years of Australia’s Own, from original and restored motor cars, to unique prototypes, historic film footage, a photographic exhibition, as well as Holden and Holden Dealer memorabilia. The vehicles and memorabilia are courtesy of Holden Ltd, Holden enthusiasts and private collectors.

The Australian MOTORLIFE Museum is a not-for-profit volunteer organization with Authority to Fund Raise as a Tax Exempt Charity that began in the early 1990s with a group of veteran and Vintage motoring enthusiasts building the Illawarra Motor Museum with the sole purpose of showcasing the Veteran and Vintage cars to all Australian and international visitors.
With the inclusion of more exhibits, there was a need to expand so they moved into the new building with a new name to include “Motorlife” which was chosen from an early magazine publication so as to cover not only the main exhibits, the cars, motorcycles, and bicycles but also the technology that helped change the face of Australia during the late 1800s and so you will see a very wide range of exhibits from tools, gramophones, typewriters, scales, telephones and more, with a lot of the exhibits resorted by our volunteers or on loan from members and friends.
The museum houses: The Paul Butler Collection which is the accumulation of many years of collecting a wide range of cars and memorabilia; one person’s passion. The Wayne Gardner Collection of trophies and motorcycles. The NRMA Heritage display. And some fine examples of Australian motoring heritage.
